Our Plan of Action
The Take Marlin Off the Menu campaign's ultimate goal is to end the commercial harvest, sale and importation of marlin, sailfish and spearfish in the United States. Our plan of action includes:
- Educating the American public and consumers about the threat to billfish;
- Involving chefs, retaurants, and seafood vendors to voluntarily remove marlin at U.S. restaurants and supermarkets;
- Building support for international billfish conservation among U.S. policymakers including domestic legislation to prohibit marlin and sailfish imports;
- Promoting conservation of billfish on U.S. delegations to Pacific Regional Fishery Management Organizations.
